Virginia Miller



Blue Springs, MS. – Virginia Lee Roberts Miller, 87, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at her residence in the Blue Springs Community of Pontotoc Co. A native of Columbus, Ohio and longtime resident of the Dayton, Ohio area, Mrs. Miller moved to Mississippi about 3 ½ years ago. She was the daughter of Griffith Roberts and Cordelia Millikin Roberts. Mrs. Miller graduated from Boston Conservatory in Boston, Mass. With a BA in Classical Music. A professional opera singer all her life, she came from a musical family. Her father was often her accompanist. She started singing in Church at the age of 5. By the time she was 12, she was already receiving scholarship opportunities to study at major music conservatories around the country. She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC and performed at major opera companies around the world. A Soprano, she could reach a perfect High C in perfect pitch and sang opera in 9 different languages. A lifelong Presbyterian, she locally attended the Anchor. She loved all music, sewing, her family and raising and loving dogs, especially Rotweiller’s.

All services were private. Holland Funeral Directors and Cremations, Tupelo Chapel was honored to serve the family.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirly Ann Miller of Blue Springs, MS. and two grandchildren Shannon Miller and Schivahn Miller and a great grandchild. Her parents and a brother, James Warren Miller preceded her in death.
