Saltillo-John Michael Francis, 60, better known as Frog by friends and family left this world Saturday, May 12, 2018 due to an unexpected illness. Frog was born on October 1, l957 in Tupelo to the late John Prather and Sarah Hunter Francis. He was a l976 graduate of Saltillo High School and attended Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Maroon Jazz Band. Frog was a great storyteller and practical jokester. He always had great stories to tell. An avid history buff, he possessed great knowledge of local and military histories. He enjoyed breakfast at Hardee’s in Saltillo with the “Breakfast Club”. He worked over 30 years at Action retiring from the packaging/shipping department. Much beloved by his family and close friends, Frog exemplified the term simple man - he never needed much, nor did he ever want much. He was a lifelong member of the Euclatubba Baptist Church near Saltillo.
To honor his life and memory, a private service will be held in the Tupelo Room at Holland Funeral Directors with family friend, Bro. Jay Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Francis family plot at Euclatubba Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel is honored to be serving the family.
Frog leaves his siblings, Gail Pierce (Billy) of Wren, Alan Francis of Saltillo, and Jimmy Francis (Angie) of Pine Bluff, Ark.. His aunt, Betty Hunter of Tupelo. nephews, Will and Wes Francis, nieces, Hope Holly, Savannah and Emily Francis; great niece and nephews, Blakely Brown and Bryson and Wyatt Francis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Buddy and Pernie Francis and Troy and Eula Hunter.
