Obituary

Shannon – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Jerry Donnell Kyle, transformed to his heavenly home June 18, 2018 at North MS Medical Center. He was born to H.L. and Viva Pettey Kyle on June 6, 1944 in Shannon, MS. He lived all his life in Shannon and loved his family and the friends he met along his lifetime. Jerry was a born again Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Shannon. Known by many as “Scrap Iron” Jerry was the longtime owner of Old Union Car Company. He loved building things and making them work, from old cars starting in his teenage years to building toys in his retirement years. He was a simple, gentle soul whose life touched all he came in contact with.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. All other services are private to the family only, per the deceased request. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Brenda Diggs Kyle; daughter, Tonya Carter (Ty Haughton) of Amory; granddaughter Kala Holt (Jay) of Mooreville, Corey Kyle (Mirela) of Tupelo; two great grandchildren, Levi Butts and Laylie Holt of Mooreville; one sister, Carolyn Kyle Shelby of Shannon, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Bo; longtime faithful employee, Christopher Hutcheson. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Carey Kyle in 2000; one nephew, Kipper Copeland.
