Belden - Doris Russell McCarter, 104, left her earthly home at Rosewood Assisted Living in Tupelo, MS and went to her Heavenly Home at 12:57 PM on Friday, June 15th, surrounded by loving family.
Born on February 24, 1914 to the late George Wells Russell and Lakie Short Russell, she served as a nurses assistant at Pontotoc Hospital in her working career. She faithfully attended Belden Baptist Church for many years an was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of love and joy to her family and friends.
A service celebrating her long and fruitful life will be held at 2 PM Today, Sunday, June 17t, 2018 at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel with Rev. Jim Holcomb and Rev. Tommy Inmon officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time at 2 PM. Interment will be at Belleview Baptist Church Cemetery in Thaxton, MS.
Mrs. McCarter is survived by two sons, Rex LaVann McCarter(Bonnie, dec) and Terry Lon McCarter(Peggy) all of Thaxton, MS. Three grandsons: Mark A. McCarter(Sandra), Jeff A. McCarter, and Steve K. McCarter. Two grand-daughters: Heather C. McCarter and Jan McCarter Patterson(Tracy). Seven great grandchildren: Anna Patterson Pugh(Marc), Aubrey Patterson IV, Blake Patterson, Mary Helms, Cory Helms, Matt McCarter(Sarah Beth), and Drew McCarter. One great, great grandson, Flinn Pugh. Three nephews: Ronnie Russell(Pat), Wells Russell(Dianne), and Scott Russell(Lisa). Two nieces: JoAnna Daniels(Kenny) and Bobbie Warren(O’Neil).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil McCarter; brother, Lake Russell (Geraldine,dec) and her parents, George Wells “Thacker” Russell and Lakie Short Russell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or Belden Baptist Church, 4121 McCullough Blvd, Belden, MS. 38826. The service may be viewed via www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/streaming at 2 PM today and 60 days thereafter.
