Mary Armstrong



Tupelo-Mary H. Armstrong, 91, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. Mary was born on July 23, 1926 in Carthage, Tenn to the late Sam L Anderson and Emily Earps Anderson. She grew up in Tennessee and married Claude Armstrong, Sr. on May 31, l946, after his service in World War II. They lived in several Alabama and Tennessee cities before moving to Tupelo 41 years ago. Mr. Armstrong died in l984. Her early employment was in a shoe manufacturing facility but she spent her last 4 decades as a mother and housewife. A Baptist, she enjoyed sewing in her early life. An avid shopper, she enjoyed going to the Mall at Barnes Crossing where she also did a lot of visiting and watching the Atlanta Braves. She was a doting grandmother to her only grandchild, Christopher.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro Randy Parchman officiating. Private burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time today (Sat.) Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.
Mary leaves behind her two sons, Gary Armstrong and wife, Lisa of Midlothian, VA and Claude Armstrong, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Tupelo. 1 grandson, Christopher Armstrong of Midlothian, Va.
