Kay Eileen Giles, 97, of Tupelo died May 3, 2018, at North MS Medical Center after living a full life centered on family and community. Born to the late Eleanora Piorkowski Lada and Stanislaw Lada in Shamokin, Penn., she moved to Chicago where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Warren Giles, whom she married Feb. 1, 1947. They had been united in marriage for 71 years at the time of her death. They lived in Tupelo since 1974 where Kay was active in the community as a member of several civic and social organizations including the Garden Club. She also volunteered her time as a driver for the Meals on Wheels program. She and Ken were longtime members of the First United Methodist Church in Tupelo.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM, Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Fred Britton officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 12 noon-service time. Condolences to the family may be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
She is survived by her husband, Ken, of Tupelo; her children, Kenneth Douglas Giles and his wife, Jayna Wing Giles of Buellton, Calif.; Scott Warren Giles of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Robin Giles Baskerville (formerly of Tupelo) and her husband, Robert Joseph Baskerville of Stratham, N.H.; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Chester Lada and Gerald Lada, and sisters, Helen Lada Monczunski and Estelle Lada Milbrand.
The family suggests that memorials in memory of Kay be made to the Salvation Army, 527 Carnation St., Tupelo, MS. 38804 or to Meals on Wheels, 2800 West Main St., Tupelo, MS. 38801
