Obituary

Pontocola Community– Mr. Thomas Howard Bobo, 80, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in the Woodland Community of Pontotoc Co., MS on January 22, 1938 to Leonard Carlton Bobo and Lottie McDivitt Bobo. He married Rebecca “Jean” Ellis on February 1, 1958 in Shannon where they made their home. He worked at Futorian Furniture Manufacturing for 47 years. T. H. was a hard worker, a quiet but strong man whose primary concern was caring for his family. He was a longtime member of Pontocola Baptist Church and attended Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church. He was witty and enjoyed being a prankster. His hobbies included tinkering with wood, cutting wood, riding his tractor and Mule over his land, which he dearly loved, listening to country music, especially Hank Williams Sr. and Jimmy Rogers, and RFD TV. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called him PaPaw.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Wesley Stephens and Bro. Zack Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 5 PM - 8 PM and Wednesday from noon - service time.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Jean Ellis Bobo of the Pontocola Community; his son, Danny Bobo (Lori) of Pontocola; two daughters, Frances “Bo” Mattox (Edwin) and Lisa Hill (Jacky), all of Belden; two sisters, Callie Ruth Leggett of Ripley, TN and Linnie Mae Gilliland (James) of Halls, TN; six grandchildren, Amanda Bobo of Dallas, TX, Andrea Yonts (Heath) of Shannon, Andrew Waddell and Austin Waddell of Belden, Angel Hill and Alexander Hill of Belden; two great-grandchildren, Sophia “Doll Baby” and Andrew Waddell; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Janice Annette Bobo, an infant brother and three sisters, Mary Frances Erwin, Betty Jean Erwin, and Charlene Abernathy.
Pallbearers will be Alex Hill, Austin Waddell, Heath Yonts, Alan Simmons, Jonathan Simmons, Howard Rutledge, Brad Smith, and Mike Curran.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
