Obituary

Tupelo-Rachel Edwards Pettigrew, 94, returned to her Creator on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from Diversicare-Tupelo, after a lingering struggle with Alzheimers. A kind gentle soul all her long life, “Miss” Rachel was born in the Union Community south of Plantersville to the late George Thomas and Louella Booth Edwards. She spent much of her life in the Union Community farming with the family and helping earn their livelihood by working as an Inspector first at Nettleton Garment, later at Plantersville Garment and Davee’s Garment and retiring at age 62 from Rosato’s. Mrs. Pettigrew loved the outdoors and all of God’s creation, personally tending her yard and flowers well into her 80’s. She was a Godly woman who studied her Bible, faithfully read it and shared the gospel message with everyone whom she came in contact. Grammy Pettigrew was an excellent seamstress and cook and loved having conversation with family and her many friends. She was a stellar Christian woman whose life of faithfulness and through the grace of God, now has her heavenly crown. She was a longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

A service of remembrance and gratitude for her life will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her pastor, Bro. Rob Garland officiating.
A graveside service will follow in the Brewer Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 PM-8PM today (Monday) and from 9 AM-service time on Tuesday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
