Jimmy Guy "Jim" Blassingame



Tupelo – Mr. Jimmy Guy “Jim” Blassingame, age 59, died suddenly, Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 4, 1959 in Booneville, MS to Jack Blassingame and Cathryn Owens Blassingame. Jim attended Jumpertown Middle School and graduated from Booneville High School. He continued to study at Northeast Community College and earned his Geological Engineering degree from the University of Mississippi.
He married Shirley Green on September 4, 1987 and they made their home in Tupelo. He worked as an Industrial Sales Engineer for Martin Supply Co. of Saltillo. He was a member of the Orchard where he was a part of the Greeting Ministry. He loved his church family, his neighbors, and never met a stranger. Jim enjoyed working in his yard and doing projects for his children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His grandchildren were his greatest joy.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018 at The Orchard with Dr. Bryan Collier and Rev. Will Rambo officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and Thursday from 10:30 AM to service time at the Orchard.
Survivors include his stepmother, Jean Blassingame of Booneville; his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley G. Blassingame of Tupelo; two sons, Alex Blassingame (Olivia) of Amory, and Andrew Blassingame of Tupelo; three brothers, Scott Balssingame (Amy) of Saltillo; Steve Treece (Annette) of Booneville, and Jeff Treece of Corinth; two sisters, Cathy Ross (Gary) of Corinth, and Jackie Thomasson (David) of Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jackson Blassingame and Addilyn Blassingame of Amory. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie Treece and Sister, Patsy Martin.
