Verona – Mr. Quincy “Hayward” Adams, 66, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at North MS Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Marion County, Alabama on June 28, 1951 to John Quincy Adams and Ruth Irene Keplinger Adams. Hayward married Evelyn Westmoreland on August 16, 1974 in Verona, MS, and they made their home in Verona where they raised their family. He worked many years as a line foreman in the polyfoam industry. He loved his grandchildren, spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and in his words, “piddling”. He attended Verona Church of God of Prophecy.
A service celebrating his life will be at 3 PM, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Wayne Thorn, Rev. David Perry, and Rev. Margaret Browning officiating. A private family graveside service will be at Upper Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pontotoc Co., MS. Visitation will be today (Tues.) from 4 PM to 7 PM and Wednesday from 1 PM to service time.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Evelyn Adams of Verona; 4 daughters, Carin Franks (Tommy) of Saltillo, Sherry Stidham (Jason) of Mooreville, Andrea Hudson (J.C.), and Tracey Pitts (Sid), all of Saltillo; 1 brother, Mike Adams (Rita) of Fayette, AL; 5 sisters, Linda Shirley of Sulligent, AL, Nona Williams of Wren, Ann Tidwell (Lance) of Bear Creek, AL, Sue Chappell of Haleyville, AL, and Mary Moore of Tupelo; 5 grandchildren, Cameron Franks, Sydney Franks, Laken Stidham, Alli Claire Stidham, and Emma Kate Pitts; 4 great grandchildren, Brooke, Abbey, Calli, and Hunter; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Adams, John Adams, Teddy Adams, and Wayne Adams; daughter, Angela Adams, and grandson, Thom Franks.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Franks, Patrick Westmoreland, Chris Channell, Jason Holley, Chris Holley, and Steve Chappell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Cooperwood, Richard Denton, and Eugene Heatherly.
