Brewer Community-Helen Ruth Miles Dye, 84, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after an extended illness. Helen was born in Rienzi, Prentiss County, Mississippi on October 24, 1932, the second of 10 children born to Ernest and Lois Owens Miles. She attended Marietta Schools. She married Johnny Dye in l947 and made her residence in the Brewer Community of Lee County. Helen was a nursing assistant employed by the North Mississippi Medical Center for over 35 years. She was named Employee of the Year in l985. An independent woman, Helen was a tireless worker devoted to her family. She sat with the elderly after her retirement from the Hospital. “MaMaw” derived much pleasure from her great grandchildren in her later years and babysat and spoiled them. She was a member of the Brewer United Methodist Church.
Helen will be remembered at a funeral service at 10:30 AM Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Chad Bowen officiating. Private burial will follow in Brewer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM-7PM today (Sun.) and one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Helen is survived by her two children, Jimmy Dye and wife, Vicki of Tupelo and Carroll Dye of Brewer; her grandchildren, Kristy Dye Stanford and Heather Dye of Brewer. 4 great grandchildren, Paige Stanford-Merrell (Devon), Josh Hall, Camyll Garrett and Alexys Garrett. A great-great granddaughter, Charli Rose Hall. 3 sisters, Ann Ivy (Troy) of Cairo, Frances Jennings (Bobby) of Booneville and Linda Roberts (Ralph) of Pratts. 2 brothers, Gary Miles (Teresa) of Marietta and Jerry Miles (Barbara) of Shannon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 3 brothers, Mutt, Earl and Ray Miles and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Michael, Randy, Bradley, Wesley and Eric Miles and Derrick Roberts.
